To: Wednesday Beer Night From: Whirl Sunday, September 17, 2000 I've been asked to provide a transcript of Lori and Jim's 15 minutes of fame on their wedding day for those people who didn't record the game. So, here are the approximately 30 seconds as it aired on television. Enjoy, Beer-Swillers. *************** Calling the game: Ken Harrelson and Darrin Jackson [Carlos Lee comes to bat] Ken: Here's Carlos at .305, 23 homers, 87 ribbies. Takes a fastball high. [Lee pauses after missing to pick at his bat] Ken: Congratulations go out to Jim and Loretta Hausfeld who were married this afternoon here at the ballpark on the patio area. [Lee hits a long foul to the right] Darrin: Well, congratulations! Ken: Congratulations! [Lee picks at his bat again] Ken: Obviously, HY-UGE Sox fans. Darrin: Either that or they got a heck of a deal. [laughter from both. Lee is picking his bat again] Darrin: But, I gotta go with the first thought process. [Lee swings and misses] Ken: Alright, a slider. [Picture cuts away from Lee to Lori. Lori is sitting backwards in her seat, in her wedding gown with the veil on, drinking a beer and talking animatedly with someone behind her. Angry Peanut Guy may be seen in the lower right hand corner -- happy, pre-peanut altercation.] Ken: [in a rather sappy tone, like someone cooing at a puppy]. There they are! [He pauses, obviously noting 'they' are not there, the groom is missing]. There is Loretta Hausfeld. [Lee strikes out off camera] Ken: And he strikes out Carlos. ************************************************* Jim and Lori, we had a ball! *smirk* Seriously, though, the wedding was a blast. I especially liked the fact that we wedding guests had to dodge the fly balls that came over the fence from batting practice that was going on during the wedding. Made the whole thing very dangerous and sexy. Love, Steph
